Tony told me I had to watch this you tube clip.. and so I did. Ohhhhhh man This clip actually reminded me of a convo I had with Mum years ago not quite the same as what was discussed in the clip but it was the closest thing I spoke to her about my deaf identity. Brilliant satire.. I love it!! ... -

OK … I’m trying to be calm & serene about this development in the senate last week. They were due to vote on a motion to hold an inquiry into the state of captioning in Australia for Deaf & Hearing Impaired. Natasha Stott Despoja was leading the charge to support an inquiry. A few weeks ago I saw the film “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy” on TV, what got me thinking was this scene where Ron (the hero in the story) lost his job after a tasteless remark about the inhabitants of San Diego. When he lost his job he became lost, he no longer cared about his appearance (and perhaps his personal hygiene too), and had started to become an alcoholic. A bit like a man when he loses his identity or when he feels he can no longer contribute to society. There is a lot to be said about a man attaching his identity, and his self-worth to his job. oohhhhh SHIT! I’ve been without regular internet access at home for about 3 weeks now.. and I’m counting down the days till I get cable. Cable Internet! mmmmmmmmmm *drooling* Nothing else is new, just been busy at work and slowly nurturing an addiction to Facebook. I’ve got a (which I hope it will be a thought provoking) post comming up so stay tuned, in the mean time there’s plenty of other places for you to explore on the Internet. It’s a big place! At the moment I’m amused at one friend (you know who you are, it’s probably unlikely you are reading this) thinks I’d be talking to myself about my day. Hmmm Close but no cigar! ...
